Sunrise on the dunes. The dunes are just east of São Luis, Maranhão. They stretch over 40 km along the coast and at their widest, 12 km from the Atlantic Ocean.
On Carnaval weekend at 4:30 in the morning, a group of 4 guys and myself left the village we were staying in to drive the 30 minutes to Paulino Neves, a small fishing town on the far eastern edge of the dunes. Arriving well before sunrise I was able to make several images including this one before getting into position for the sunrise.
