Photo of the Week 2014 #19

This last weekend we hiked through the forest in the Ubajara National Park just over an hour from here. The park covers only about 3.5 square miles, but it is a protected environment to many of the natural fauna and flora of Ceará. These bright red plants are, I believe, a variation of the Snow plant. It is a parasitic plant taking its nutrients from fungus growing on the roots of trees.
