Photo of the Week 2015 #29

The Carnauba palm tree is only found in the northeast of Brazil and is used for many things. The trunk makes sturdy beams and its leaves are weaved to make hats and bags, and also to thatch roofs. Cutting the leaves off the tree is considered pruning and the tree grows new leaves. These donkeys were loaded down and carrying the leaves in from the field.
