I spent a few days this week in Canoa Quebrada, Ceará (means broken canoe). Since moving to Brazil nearly 4 years ago, we had heard numerous accounts of the beauty of the red cliffs hanging over the white sand, and finally had the opportunity to see if for ourselves. My favorite beach until now has been Cumbuco located about a half hour up the coast from Fortaleza, little did I know that only 2 hours down the coast was this gem of a town and beach. Broadway, the main street in town where most of the hotels and restaurants are, is full of little shops and street merchants selling their arts and crafts. It reminded me of Pearl Street in Boulder, CO and The Downtown Mall in Charlottesville, VA.
