After a wonderful week putting on a Vacation Bible School for the local Navajo children we decided to go camping. This is the view from the front of our tent. It was quite an amazing experience. After setting up our tent, Sophie and I went back to the car to get our sleeping bags and rest of our gear while Audrey stayed in the tent. It was her first time camping and she was just thrilled! Just as I was unlocking the car about 150m away, a huge wind storm hit us! I turned my back to the wind just in time to see our tent lift off the ground! I think I would have set an Olympic record in several events hurdling the mounds of grass on my way to my little girl who was still in our tent. I held onto the tent for a few minutes while the storm lasted, fortunately Audrey wasn’t hurt, though it took a while to calm her down and to show her the ‘fun’ part of camping. We also saw a tent about 10 spaces over from ours blow away, it ended up about halfway to the Left Mitten.
This is the sunrise after the windy night’s events. Not as pretty as I was hoping for, but still a great view!
